On the future of his character, Smith told The Daily Beast: “I’m not even really sure, to be honest with you. Will we see McKay in Season 3? It's very possible, if only for an episode or two. However, he brought a lot of heart and humanity to the show, and it was great to have another well-developed Black character in an already diverse cast. This makes sense, as Cassie quickly moved on to Nate after their breakup, and McKay is in college, unlike the rest of the Euphoria cast. His relationship with Cassie was as complicated as his issues with toxic masculinity, and while we saw him throughout Season 1 and in the first few episodes of Season 2, he seems to have since been written out of the show. The determined State University football star was quite literally a major player in Season 1 and even had his own cold open introduction brimming with a fascinating backstory in Episode 6. It's possible Cal ran off to go find Derek, and just as possible that Derek is now either married with kids to a man or woman.or deceased.Īppeared in: "Pilot," "Stuntin' Like My Daddy," "Made You Look," "Shook Ones Pt II," "'03 Bonnie and Clyde," "The Next Episode," "The Trials and Tribulations of Trying to Pee While Depressed," "Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door," and "Out of Touch" Will we see Derek in Season 3? We're not sure yet if and when Cal will return to the show, though I have a feeling we'll be seeing him again in future seasons, as there are many Jacobs family mysteries yet to uncover (including many hints at childhood sexual trauma on Nate's part). If Cal hadn't gotten Marsha pregnant, would he and Cal have gotten together for real? Would they still be together today? More importantly, where is Derek now, and is he even alive? It would appear that he might not be, as when Cal revisits the bar where they once kissed back in the '90s, he has visions of a young Derek as if he's a ghost straight from his past. We know he was planning on going to "a state school out West," but that's about it. While we only saw him through Cal's (and perhaps a psychic drugged-up Rue's) perspective, Derek seemed like a sweet, sensitive kid well on his way to starting an exciting new chapter of his life post–high school. We were introduced to Cal's high school best friend and long-lost love, Derek, in a bittersweet flashback, and it turns out their non-starter of a relationship created the ultimate rupture in the Jacobs family patriarch's psyche. Someone's got to!Īppeared in: "Ruminations: Big and Little Bullys" and "You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can" Will we see Tyler in Season 3? Doubtful, as he's likely in jail or prison, though it would be interesting to see him come back and take down Nate Jacobs. It was a tragic end for a seemingly nice enough character who became collateral for one of the volatile Jacobs men. If that wasn't bad enough, Nate later framed Tyler for the bruises on Maddy's neck (that Nate himself inflicted), using the threat of a statutory rape charge so he'd take the fall. Not only did Nate Jacobs use his name to catfish Jules, he stalked him at work and home, then broke into his apartment and beat him to a bloody pulp after becoming convinced that Tyler had sexually assaulted Maddy (he didn't). The college student did little but "smash" the fiery Maddy Perez in the pool on Episode 1 of Season 1 at McKay's party, and oh did he pay the price for it. Appeared in: "Pilot," "Stuntin Like My Daddy," "The Next Episode," and "The Trials and Tribulations of Trying to Pee While Depressed"
